The Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday (July 2) the intention to transform the Helibras factory, located in Itajubá (MG), into a strategic hub for the production and export of the H145 helicopter — one of the most advanced multi-role models in the world.

The initiative was made official through a Letter of Intent signed during a meeting between the Vice President and MDIC Minister, Geraldo Alckmin, and the French Minister Laurent Saint-Martin, held in Brasília.

US$185 million investment focused on exports

The project foresees an investment of approximately US$185 million (R$1 billion) over the next 15 years to produce up to 200 units of the H145 model, for both domestic and international markets. Each helicopter has an estimated market value of US$15 million.

The H145 is manufactured by Airbus and is known for its versatility and advanced onboard technology, making it suitable for civil, military, rescue, and aeromedical transport missions.

The proposal aligns with the guidelines of the New Industry Brazil (NIB) plan, prioritizing production enhancement, incorporation of cutting-edge technology, and expansion of high value-added exports. It also aims to generate skilled jobs and strengthen the local supply chain in Minas Gerais and throughout Brazil.
